    The period of Gulf War wartime service continues through a future date to be set by law or Presidential Proclamation.

    To be included on the Veterans Memorial plaque for the Gulf War, are you a Past or Current Resident of Hampton Township Gulf War Veteran that:

    1. served in the military on Active Duty; or a Member of the National Guard and Reserves who were called to active duty and served on active duty from August 2, 1990 through the present;
    2. awarded an Honorable or General Discharge from Active Duty for military service August 2, 1990 through the present;

     3. received a National Defense Service Medal?

     

    Who is considered a Gulf War-era veteran?    

    For the purposes of benefits eligibility as per the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Gulf War period is still in effect—meaning anyone who served on active duty (in theatre or stateside) from Aug. 2, 1990, through the present is considered a Gulf War-era veteran. This includes Operations Desert Storm; Desert Shield, Iraqi Freedom; Enduring Freedom.

    National Guard and Reserves who are called to active duty and who serve for the entire period for which they were called will be eligible. 

    National Guard and Reservists who are not called to active duty are not eligible.
