The largest of the Township's service departments, the Department of Community Services is responsible for the Public Works and Recreation program functions of the Township. Services provided by this department include street/bridge maintenance, snow and ice control, storm sewer as well as vehicle maintenance, annual and seasonal recreation programs, outdoor pool operations, after school and summer play camp, numerous special events, as well as the operation of the Hampton Community Center.
From a budget standpoint, the Community Services Department comprises approximately 30% of the Township's Annual Operating Budget. It has the largest number of full-time employees (21), and operates with a compliment of as many as 100 part-time employees on a seasonal basis.
Department personnel also oversee a large part of the Township's annual Capital Improvement Program Budget, Each year, road resurfacing activities total approximately $1,000,000 and it is the responsibility of the Director and the Department's staff to insure that this work is effectively completed.
Management/oversight of the Department of Community Services operations are shared by two individuals; the Public Works segment is overseen by the Assistant Township Manager and the Parks & Recreation segment is overseen by the Parks & Recreation Programs Administrator who report to the Municipal Manager.
