The Department of Community Development is responsible for processing and issuing building, zoning and other development permits; providing building inspections and residential plan reviews; and verifying compliance with all ICC and UCC building code requirements.
All new construction projects require the issuance of an approved permit prior to the start of construction. The following types of construction that require permits may include, but are not limited to;

Scheduling an Inspection
To schedule an inspection a minimum of 24 hours advance notice is required.
If you need to schedule a final inspection for an accessory structure (shed/fence/carport/etc) or an inspection for a sump/stormwater controls please call the Township Permitting Office at (412) 486-0400 x 1304. You will need to provide your name, phone number, address, permit number and type of construction.
If you need to schedule a building inspection please contact the Township Building Inspector, Kevin Karman, directly at (412) 491-6868. You will need to provide your name, phone number, address, permit number and type of construction.
If you need to schedule an electrical inspection, please contact the Township Electrical Inspector, Gene Meaner, directly at (412) 821-0337 x 39. You will need to provide your name, phone number, address, permit number and type of construction.
