  • Monday, 05/14/2012: Vehicle Crash - DUI Arrest
     At 4:30 PM, Police responded to the intersection of Oakhill Road and Lakemont Drive for a vehicle into a guardrail. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and was attempting to leave the scene.  He was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. While investigating the accident, it was discovered that he crashed into a closed garage door and a no parking sign. After running over the parking sign, he crossed the intersection before striking the guardrail. Charges to follow. 


  • Friday, 05/11/2012: Vehicle Crash - DUI Arrest

    Police were dispatched at 3:15 AM to the area of East Hardies Road near Deveny Lane for a one-vehicle accident with a pole and wires down. The entire utility pole was down across both lanes of East Hardies Road with the wires and transformer as well. The transformer was leaking a large amount of fluid onto the roadway. The wires, including power lines were all over the road. The accident caused the partial closure of East Hardies Road for the better portion of the following day.  The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.  Charges are pending. 



  • Thursday, 05/10/2012: Fire
    Report of a structure fire in the 4100 block of Buckboard Trail.  Upon arrival the fire was located along the outside garage wall. The resident stated he believed he had left the gas grill on since yesterday and the heat caused nearby materials to catch fire. The fire was extinguished by Hampton VFD. 


  • Tuesday, 05/08/2012: Information
    Representatives from the Fund for the Public Interest/Penn Environment advised they will be canvassing in Hampton during the next couple of weeks.  This is a non-profit, tax exempt organization and they do not require a solicitor's permit.   


  • Monday, 05/07/2012: Solicitor's Permit
    A Solicitor's Permit was issued to a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones Investments.   


  • Thursday, 05/03/2012: Solicitor's Permit
    A Solicitor's Permit was given to an ice cream vendor to sell ice cream in the Township.   


  • Sunday, 04/29/2012: DUI Arrest
     While on patrol at approximately 9:45 PM, police observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Middle Road with the right tires completely off of the roadway. It swerved back onto the roadway and then back off.  Police began to follow the vehicle and it continued traveling off of the roadway and was also following extremely close to the vehicle in front of it. The vehicle pulled off into a driveway on Middle Road where police encountered the operator.  The driver displayed obvious signs of impairment, was given various tests, and then subsequently taken into custody.  Charges to follow. 


  • Friday, 04/27/2012: DUI Arrest

    While on patrol at approximately 1:30 AM police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed north on Route 8.  The actor’s vehicle was clocked at 56.6 MPH in a 40 MPH zone.  The vehicle was unable to maintain a lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated.  Police could detect the very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon the driver’s breath as well as displaying other signs of impairment.  After failing field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest for DUI.  During the inventory search of the actor’s vehicle, a small bag was recovered in the center armrest. It was found to contain suspected marijuana as well as a pipe. 



  • Friday, 04/27/2012: Vandalism
    A resident from South Villa Drive reported that sometime overnight or early in the morning, her mailbox was vandalized. She suspects it's juveniles in the neighborhood. There have been several instances of vandalism in the past.  Police advised her that if she sees anything suspicious to call 911 immediately.   


  • Friday, 04/27/2012: Vandalism
    A Hampton High School student reported that actor(s) unknown damaged her vehicle while it was parked in the student lot. The incident is believed to have taken place on Tuesday, 4-24-2012 between 7:30 AM to 2:35 PM. The passenger side of the vehicle was scratched or keyed as well as the vehicle's hood.  No suspects at this time.   


  • Wednesday, 04/25/2012: DUI Arrest
    Police were on patrol at Route 8 and Duncan Avenue at 9:15 PM when a vehicle failed to stop for a red light. A traffic stop was conducted at Clearview Road. The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests.  He failed the tests and was advised he was under arrest for suspicion of DUI.  Charges will be filed.   


  • Monday, 04/23/2012: Suspicious Circumstances
     Resident contacted Police to file a suspicious/harassment report. Approximately one and one-half months ago, she responded to an email for some part-time work as a “secret shopper”. She never performed work as a “secret shopper”, but is now receiving emails from this “employer” demanding that she Western Union the money they sent her or they will turn her into the FBI. Police informed the resident that it was a scam and to send all further emails to her “SPAM” folder. The resident never provided this employer with any of her personal information. 


  • Saturday, 04/21/2012: DUI Arrest
     

     Police were on Route 8  southbound  shortly after 2:00 AM, when they witnessed a vehicle traveling north failing to maintain a single lane of travel and driving at a high rate of speed. As police got behind said vehicle it almost came to a stop and then started again failing to maintain a single lane of travel.  A traffic stop was initiated at the intersection of Wildwood Road and finally stopped on Bella Vista Drive. While talking with the driver, police could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver produced a license, an expired registration card and was unable to produce an insurance card. He was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was given a PBT on scene, which did register positive for alcohol. He was then taken to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a blood draw. Actor was then taken to ACJ for processing. 



  • Saturday, 04/21/2012: Theft

    Resident from Elfinwild Road reported that someone stole the mail from her mailbox on Saturday night (4/21/12) around 10:30 PM. She has already notified the US Postal Police and the Postmaster of the occurrence. She is requesting extra patrols in the evenings. 



  • Friday, 04/20/2012: DUI Arrest
     At approximately 2:30 AM, police were on patrol on Route 8 in the area of McNeal Road. They witnessed a vehicle traveling north failing to maintain a lane of travel. As the vehicle continued north, the operator continued driving erratically. Police initiated a traffic stop at Donut Connection. While talking with the driver, he showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and perhaps drugs. After failing field sobriety tests, he was taken to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a blood draw. Charges pending blood results.


  • Friday, 04/20/2012: Hazardous Conditions
    Police received a phone call that a large tree had fallen onto the train tracks near the Bryant Road trestle and fishing spot.  Police notified Allegheny Valley Railroad.  The Dispatcher at the railroad said they were aware of it and had a crew headed out there to get on at Duncan Avenue because a train was behind it. 


  • Tuesday, 04/17/2012: DUI Arrest
     While on patrol, shortly after midnight, police observed a vehicle traveling south on Route 8. It made an abrupt right turn into Rental Time. As police were passing the exit of Rental Time, the actor re-entered Route 8 nearly striking the patrol car. The actor then struck the curb with his vehicle traveling a short distance and making another abrupt turn into the parking lot of 5001 Route 8. Police conducted a traffic stop and found the vehicle operator to be under the influence of alcohol. After failing field sobriety tests, the actor was placed under arrest for DUI.  Charges to follow. 


  • Saturday, 04/14/2012: Motorcycle Crash
     At approximately 1:20 PM, Police were dispatched to the 4300 block of Wildwood Sample Road for a single vehicle motorcycle accident with injuries. While being loaded into the ambulance, police were able to detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon the operator’s breath. He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for his injuries and also gave blood samples.  DUI charges are pending.


  • Wednesday, 04/11/2012: Arrest
     

    At approximately 1:30 AM while on patrol near Titan Heating on Route 8, police clocked a vehicle at 60 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone. Police began to follow the vehicle and it accelerated to approximately 80 MPH.  At the intersection of Harts Run Road, the vehicle’s left front wheel struck the concrete median. The vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed weaving from the left lane to the right lane. Police made a traffic stop in the parking lot of the BP. The operator was placed under arrest for his attempt to elude police.  While interacting with the actor, police could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. He was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was advised that he was now under arrest for suspicion f DUI. Charges to follow.



  • Monday, 04/09/2012: Fire
    At approximately 8:45 AM, Police responded, along with Hampton Volunteer Fire Department, to PPG Industries for a pull station fire alarm. It was confirmed that a small fire was active in a lab in the "B" Building section of the plant.  The fire was extinguished and employees returned to work inside the lab.   


  • Monday, 04/09/2012: Vehicle Accident - DUI Arrest
     At approximately 7:55 AM, police were dispatched to the area of West Hardies Road and Wildwood Road for a two-vehicle accident. The caller, who was one of the vehicle operators, stated that her vehicle was struck in the rear by the vehicle directly behind her. She believed the other motorist was intoxicated. Police found that motorist to be either impaired or having a medical problem of some sort.  He advised Police that he was on multiple prescription medications. As he exited the vehicle he was very unsteady on his feet and could barely walk on his own. The operator was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a blood draw.  Criminal charges are pending. 

     



  • Saturday, 04/07/2012: Vandalism
    At approximately 9:00 PM, a resident from Dogwood Drive called the station to report that her house just got “egged”.  She did not see anyone but heard a vehicle in the area with a loud engine. She was unsure if it was related to this incident.  She also added that this is not the first time this has happened.  Police checked the area with negative results. 


  • Wednesday, 04/04/2012: DUI Arrest

    While on patrol at approximately 2:00 AM, Police conducted a traffic stop at Mount Royal Blvd. and Royal View Dr. for the vehicle's registration being expired. While speaking to the driver, police detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage, as well as showing other signs of impairment.  The operator’s license was under suspension.  After failing to complete field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.  Charges pending. 



  • Wednesday, 04/04/2012: Stolen Vehicle - Arrest
    While on patrol on Route 8 at 6:50 PM traveling north, a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane came into the northbound lane, almost crashing head on with the police car.  Police turned around and affected a traffic stop on the actor’s vehicle.  Police ran the license plate, which came back as stolen out of Ross Twp., and the actors may be armed and dangerous.  Both occupants were frisked and cuffed for officer safety. An inventory of the vehicle produced various drugs and drug paraphernalia.  Both actors were placed under arrest.   


  • Sunday, 04/01/2012: DUI Arrest
     At approximately 4:20 AM, Police witnessed a running vehicle parked in the lot of the closed McDonald’s. While talking with the occupants of the vehicle, police detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to having a few drinks earlier. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests which she failed She was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a blood draw. Charges are pending.  The passenger of the vehicle will be issued a citation for underage drinking.


  • Friday, 03/30/2012: Vandalism
     A resident from Meadow Crest Drive phoned the Police Station on the morning of 3/30/2012 to report vandalism overnight.  The resident stated that probably sometime after 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM, someone threw several eggs at her residence. The eggs hit the windows and the siding of the residence. No suspects at this time. 


  • Thursday, 03/29/2012: Vandalism
    On March  29, a resident from Mohawk Drive reported that his house was egged on Saturday, March 24.  He said multiple eggs were thrown at the front of his house.  No suspects at this time


  • Thursday, 03/29/2012: Theft
     A landscaper performing work on Sturbridge Court reported unknown persons removed a backpack style gasoline powered leaf blower from the driveway where he was working The cost of the loss is $159.00.  Police spoke with the homeowner and she was unable to report any recent suspicious activity. However, she related she has been having problems with “scrappers” coming onto her property looking around for other items. The resident was advised to contact 911 if she observed this activity.  


  • Thursday, 03/29/2012: Vandalism
     At approximately 9:30 PM, a resident from Toftrees Drive reported someone threw eggs at his house and requested that the area be checked.  No suspects were located. 


  • Tuesday, 03/27/2012: DUI Arrest

    Police were on patrol at approximately 1:20 AM on East Hardies Road when a vehicle was observed driving erratically, crossing over the solid white line several times.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest.  Charges pending.   



  • Sunday, 03/25/2012: Vandalism
    Resident from Miller Drive reported his daughter's vehicle was egged.  He was advised to notify the Police Department if he gets any further information on this incident.   


  • Saturday, 03/24/2012: Possess - Narcotics Sale
     

    While on patrol at approximately 6:35 PM, the Police were dispatched to the area of Meadow Brook Court for two individuals sleeping in a vehicle. Police found a female and male sleeping in the car, which was filled with clothing, blankets and garbage.  The occupants said they were waiting for a friend. While conversing with the occupants, nothing they said was making much sense and did not coincide with their activities or their location.  Based on the information obtained, evasive behavior and lies to this point, both parties were asked to exit the vehicle and searched for weapons.  The vehicle was also searched.  A baggy containing suspected marijuana and two digital scales were found.  Numerous other drug paraphernalia, including that for ingestion and for distribution were found in the vehicle as well as two bottles of whiskey.   Police could also smell the odor of marijuana at this time. Both parties were taken into custody.  Charges will be filed. 



  • Saturday, 03/24/2012: Vandalism
    Police were dispatched to South Villa Drive for a report of someone attempting to get into the resident’s window.  Upon arrival, Police found a carton of eggs at the edge of the roadway in front of the residence. The front of the residence had been struck by multiple eggs. No suspects at this time. 


  • Saturday, 03/24/2012: Vandalism
    Resident from Willow Oak Drive reported his house was egged.  No further information at this time.   


  • Friday, 03/23/2012: Theft from Vehicle
    Resident from Richland Road reported that sometime after 7:30 PM on the evening of 3/22/2012, actor(s) unknown entered his unlocked vehicle which was parked in his driveway. $50.00 in cash was taken from the glove box and approximately $15 - $20 in change was taken from the ash tray area.  Other items of value were in the vehicle, but were left untouched.  Police are reminding residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times.   


  • Friday, 03/23/2012: Vandalism
    Resident from Oakhurst Avenue reported that sometime overnight, his mailbox was vandalized.  Approximate value is $100. 


  • Friday, 03/23/2012: DUI Arrest
     While on patrol at approximately 7:50 PM, Police encountered a vehicle rounding a blind bend on Craighead, traveling into the oncoming lane. The vehicle almost collided with the Police car.  Police immediately turned around to follow the vehicle, which failed to maintain a single lane during most of the travel on Craighead Road. Police followed the vehicle southbound on Route 8 onto McCully Road. During this time, the vehicle was traveling slowly and could not stay in a single lane for even a short distance.  A traffic stop was conducted on McCully Road.  The driver admitted to being on medication and that she had one drink earlier.  After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Charges to follow. 


  • Thursday, 03/22/2012: DUI Arrest
     At approximately 10:00 PM, Police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver on Mt. Royal Boulevard traveling toward Route 8.  The reporting person further stated that the vehicle turned onto Route 8 and then left onto Harts Run Road. Police followed said vehicle on Harts Run Road. The actor was unable to maintain the vehicle within its lane, crossing over the double yellow line several times, as well as crossing over the fog line several times. Police conducted a traffic stop. There was a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and the driver appeared to be under the influence. After failing field sobriety tests, the actor was placed under arrest for DUI.  Charges to follow. 


  • Wednesday, 03/21/2012: Criminal Mischief to Vehicles
    Resident from Camberly Drive reported that an actor in an unknown vehicle threw a rock through the side window of his vehicle.  The approximate value of the damage is $300. His neighbor heard the car drive by and the glass break, but he didn't see the car and couldn't get a description.

    Hampton Police issued a Solicitor's Permit to three males who will be soliciting for Verizon.   


  • Monday, 03/19/2012: DUI Arrest
     

     

    At approximately 4:00 PM, Police were dispatched to the area of West Hardies Road for a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner.  The caller was directly behind the suspect vehicle and said he would continue to follow it.  The caller continuously was updating the Police. The vehicle had a missing side mirror and was swerving all over the road including into the oncoming lane of traffic.  The vehicle almost crashed into a wooded area, and then drove into the Richland Plaza.  Police were told the suspect vehicle nearly struck several parked cars in the lot.  The reporting party later told police that he had been following the vehicle from the Hampton Township/McCandless Township line all the way to its resting point.  He stated that the vehicle made many travels into the oncoming lane of traffic and almost struck several oncoming vehicles. He said that the vehicle traveled off of the roadway near Aquinas Academy and struck a utility pole. A pedestrian was almost struck on North Pioneer Road. Upon arrival the driver appeared to be very incoherent. She was able to confirm that she was on several types of medication.  Richland EMS transported her to UPMC Passavant for treatment.  While at the hospital a blood draw was taken and the driver was advised she was under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
