Hampton Township Police Blotter
- Tuesday, 07/08/2014: Property Damage
Police were dispatched to Apple Ridge Drive in response to a possible house fire caused by the residence getting struck by lightening. Upon arrival, a large hole could be seen in the roof of the house and there were shingles spread throughout the roadway. There was no sign of fire, but there was some water damage from the rain and significant damage to the roof. The fire department arrived on scene and inspected the residence to ensure that it was safe.
- Sunday, 07/06/2014: DUI Arrest
At 3:10 AM, Hampton Police observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 8. The vehicle was weaving and then struck the concrete median just prior to the left turning lane at Wildwood Road. The vehicle proceeded west on Wildwood Road, failing to maintain a single lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges will be filed.
- Thursday, 07/03/2014: Theft from Vehicle
Residents from Harts Run Road and Ralph Drive reported that sometime overnight, someone went through their unlocked vehicles. Loose change and CD's were taken. Police are reminding residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times.
- Sunday, 06/15/2014: DUI Arrest
Police conducted a traffic stop on Route 8 for a vehicle traveling 77.8 MPH northbound on Route 8 in a 40 MPH zone. While speaking with the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from the vehicle. The driver submitted to a roadside P.B.T., which tested positive for the presence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI-minors. A vehicle inventory produced a small amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Several bottles of alcohol were also found. Charges will be filed.
- Tuesday, 06/10/2014: Suspicious Circumstances
A resident reported that he received a phone call from a man who claimed to be from the IRS and had a foreign accent. The caller asked the resident to send him $1,200 and wanted some other personal information. The resident did not send any money, nor provide the caller with any other information. Police advise that this is a typical scam and to never send any money, or give out personal information to someone requesting it over the phone.
- Friday, 06/06/2014: Fire
Police were dispatched to Dolphin Drive for a report of a propane tank and grill on fire. Upon arrival, the fire chief stated that the fire had burnt itself out and they were clearing the scene.
- Wednesday, 06/04/2014: Assisting Other Agency
Hampton PD was requested to assist Allegheny County PD with locating a horseback rider who fell in the woods and was injured in Hartwood Acres. The patient was located and emergency personnel were on scene.
- Tuesday, 06/03/2014: Hazardous Conditions
Police were dispatched to the intersection of Mt. Royal Blvd. and Sample Road for wires burning at the top of a utility pole. Upon arrival, Hampton Fire Department was on scene and checking a pole at Bristol Court. They located bare wires and broken insulators at the top of the utility pole. Power was out in the immediate area. Duquesne Light was notified.
