Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the School Resource Officer Program?

The Township of Hampton Police Department recognizes the importance of maintaining a good working relationship with its citizens as well as educating our youth. That's why the department has a School Resource Officer Program to provide the Hampton School District with a full time SRO.

A uniformed officer is assigned to the Hampton School District on a full-time basis, where he fills a wide variety of responsibilities. The SRO instructs law-related education courses in conjunction with the school's teachers. The SRO instructs courses such as driver's education and safety, police careers, Charlie Check First, School Bus Safety,  and the Student Awareness Program.

The officer is also responsible for establishing a positive police presence on campus and in the areas near each school. This presence deters trespassers and non-students from coming to the school and keeps help close by for any potential problems. Most importantly, each student, teacher, and staff member can feel comfortable talking with a police officer they know.
For more information about the program, contact the Township of Hampton Police Department located at 3101 McCully Rd. Allison Park Pa. 15101, between 7AM and 3PM, Monday through Friday, or call (412) 486-0400.
