Bethany H. Blackburn took office as a Council Member in January 2018. She is the Council liaison to Public Safety, the School Board and the Depreciation Lands Museum. She was appointed to a two-year term on the newly created Hampton Shaler EMS Board.
She holds an undergraduate degree in economics and French Studies from Smith College and a Master in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. She served for two years in the Peace Corps (Cote d’Ivoire 99-01), and then worked for several years as a municipal budget analyst in California.
After moving to Hampton in 2011, she worked as an Administrative Director at UPMC Presbyterian hospital managing multiple federal grants and overseeing the business operations of an outpatient clinic. She now serves as Division Administrator at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, overseeing the management and business operations of five pediatric specialty programs.
Additionally, she leads two Girl Scout troops and volunteers with the Hampton Dolphins and at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Bethany and her husband, Jason, have three children, who all attend Hampton public schools.
